There's been critical acclaim for this latest session of the series in which Dr Pamela Connolly (pictured) talks to celebrity patients. Tonight it's the turn of bestselling author Sir Salman Rushdie (pictured). Described as "fascinating", the programme lifts the lid a little on the career and turbulent private life of the controversial writer.

The following preview is courtesy of C4:

The new series of More4's Shrink Rap continues as Dr Pamela Connolly talks to Booker Prize-winning author Sir Salman Rushdie, famed as much for his writing as for his four marriages and the Iranian fatwa which forced him into hiding for a decade.

Indian-born Salman tells Pamela about his bullying father and about the isolation he felt when he came to school in Britain, about his 13-year struggle to succeed as a writer and about how his conversion to Islam at the height of the fatwa, in order to pacify his critics, was a "horrendous mistake". He also talks about his troubled relationships with women and how, in the wake of his unwanted fourth divorce from Padma Lakshmi, he has finally grown up enough "to be dumped" and learned to live happily alone.
