Later goes live and earlier

Later Live... with Jools Holland, showing April 1st on BBC 2 at 10:00pm

Well, here's an innovative way to inject new life into a tired format. Finally, after many years, BBC Two's long-running music show has an earlier timeslot. Not only that, but it's going live, followed by an extended repeat on the Friday night.

Tonight's guests include Brits winner Adele (pictured), who's singing tracks from her number-one album 19 and singer-songwriter James Taylor who's performing some classic hits. In a late change to the programme, Estelle will also be appearing, replacing Gnarls Barkley who had to pull out of this show. There's also a chance to reassess The Only Ones. The 70s new-wave legends, fronted by Peter Perrett, reformed last year, and they'll be performing their classic single Another Girl, Another Planet. Oh, and there's a number from the highly tipped Black Kids, who are making their TV debut.

Sounds terrific. And hopefully the live format will give the show a useful boost. It's been beginning to flag a bit of late. Paul Strange

Tired format?? I completely disagree. OK Jools Holland's show has been around for along time but what's wrong with the format? I love the fact that you can have 5 different bands in the one studio with the presenter running between each one. Brilliant show, brilliant format, brilliant!
