On the trail of fortune and glory in Old Shanghai, intrepid archaelogist and reluctant hero Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford, pictured) is ricocheted into a dangerous adventure in India. With his faithful companion Short Round (Jonathan Ke Quan) and nightclub singer Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw), Indie goes in search of the magical Sankara stone and uncovers an ancient evil which threatens all who come into contact with it.

Released in 1984, this second entry in the Indiana Jones series is actually a prequel to the first film's plotline. Much darker than Raiders of the Lost Ark, there are some scary torture scenes. While still packing a punch, it's felt to be inferior to the first film and not as good as the third movie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Still worth watching though.

Did you know? The club at the beginning of the film is called "Club Obi Wan", a reference to Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Alec Guinness in the Star Wars series of films.

(1984) (4 Star)
