There's an understandable but worrying trend that comes out of this, the third and final part of Professor Robert Winston's look at 25 seven and eight-year-olds, born around the millennium. Today's children rarely play outside on their own; instead parents ferry them to and from school, organised activities and events. If they're not busy doing that, the kids are watching TV indoors, playing computer games or eating, often in front of the TV. Childhood has definitely changed.

Here, cameras follow the kids for 48 hours to build-up a snapshot of their restricted lives. And although the parents have valid reasons and well-argued explanations for how they are bringing up their children, Winston is less than impressed.

No one's sure how today's generation of children will develop as adults, but this provocative documentary offers food for thought.
