This romantic comedy follows a hot shot advertising executive, and terrible male chauvinist, called Nick Marshall (Mel Gibson).

After a minor accident he is awarded the gift of being able to exactly what women are thinking.

His new gift shocks him at first, as he discovers that what he thought women loved about him, actually turns them in the opposite direction.

However as he begins to hear more and more of what the women of the world are thinking, this gift even starts to change his behavior, as he tries the things that women do everyday, like shaving his legs.

Eventually he hears that a promotion is up for grabs but he is shocked when he discovers that a new member to the team called Darcy McGuire (Helen Hunt) has also been offered the job.

To ensure the job is his, Nick decides to use his new found ability to read her thoughts, strip her ideas and put them forward as his own.

But will he be able to go through with his dastardly scheme, or will love rear its ugly head once more?
