After attacks on key political and military figures worldwide by UFO's, it is decided to set up a secret defence organisation called "Shado".
This is built in southern England under the guise of a film studio called "Harlington Straker".
This Head Quarters is under the command of Commander Straker (Ed Bishop), and his second in command is Colonel Alec Freeman (George Sewell), but frequently standing in, and in charge of many missions (and where most of the action is !) is Paul Foster (Michael Billington).
