Programme Information

Contemporary black comedy/thriller, this film has been based on the superb book by John Le Carre.

Ruthless, and seductive British spy Andy Osnard (Pierce Brosnan) may have been banished to Panama, but he's got a secret weapon - Harry Pendel (Geoffrey Rush). Osnard is an Old Etonian and spy, his mission to keep a watchful eye on political manoeuvrings leading up to the handing over of the Panama Canal.

Harry is a cocky, cockney ex-con who has reinvented himself as a Saville Row tailor to the rich and powerful people of Panama. As well as being famous for his suits, he is also famous for his storytelling.

Armed with knowledge of Harry's shady past, Osnard recruits him. The fun begins when Harry spins a yarn that is not only taken as truth, but inadvertently sets of a chain of events that threatens everything he values most in life.
