Fed up with not being the only gun handling hotshot in the town, John Herod (Gene Hackman) calls upon the expertise of crack shot gunmen from miles around to all enter in a deadly knockout competition where the winner gets to live!!

One person Herod seems set to eliminate as soon as possible is the preacher Cort (Russell Crowe). Ellen (Sharon Stone), however has a different target.

As the contest comes to its end and the body count raises, the hatred between Herod & Cort and Herod & Ellen becomes increasingly apparent.
