Programme Information

After taking part in the brutal and savage French and Indian War, Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson) wants nothing more to do with anything like that again.

Benjamin Martin is determined to renounce his notoriously violent past in order to raise his family in peace.

The last thing he wants to do is return to battle against the savage British Redcoats in the midst of the American Revolution.

However when one of his sons is killed in a revolutionary skirmish and his patriotic eldest son Gabriel joins the fight, Martin has no choice but to take up arms again in order to protect the people he treasures most in his life, and fight for a young nation's freedom.

While at war Martin becomes the leader of a make-shift militia which consists of peasants, slaves, and other social misfits. However during the war Martin and his men discover that the price they will pay for their rebellion will be severe.

But thanks to their courage and bravery, they play a pivotal role in turning the tide against the Redcoats.
