Based on the book "The Club Dumas", penned by Arturo Perez-Reverte.
This story follows Dean Corso (Johnny Depp), who is a rare book dealer. He is hired by an obscure and highly obsessed collector called Boris Balkan (Frank Langella).
Boris has recently attained the possession of one of three copies of a book called "The Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows" which is an occult text written in the 17th Century and, fabled to have been written by the devil himself. It is also thought to give the owner of it unimaginable powers.
It is now Corso's 'mission' to search for the remaining two copies so as to compare and authenticate them all. He travels from Madrid to Paris in search of the texts but it isn't that easy as at every corner complications arise, and they aren't just of this world!
