David Cronenberg's adaptation of Stephen King's novel, starring Christopher Walken as schoolteacher Johnny Smith, who wakes from a coma after five years to discover he has psychic powers and can see into people's pasts and futures. These powers lead to him becoming an outcast in his home town, but when he sees visions that an up-and-coming politician will one day become president and start a nuclear war, Johnny decides that the politician must be stopped - whatever the consequences.
