Programme Information

Angus Deayton hosts this year's star studded BAFTA Television Awards from the Grosvenor House, London. Included in this year's affair is the prestigious Lew Grade Audience Award. The five finalistss, shortlisted by viewers' votes, are: "Insppector Morse", "A Touch of Frost", "The Vicar of Dibley", "Seeing Red" and "Hero of the Hour", but the winner won't be revealed until BAFTA night.

And it's not just the Lew Grade Award that sees more familiar faces fighting off newer stars. In other categories, Judi Dench (Last of the Blonde Bombshells) competes against Fay Ripley (Cold Feet), Geraldine James (The Sins), Amanda Redman (At Home with The Braithwaites) and Alison Steadman (Fat Friends).

Michael Gambon (Longitude) has Steven Mackintosh (Care) in hot pursuit in the Best Actor category, while Pete Postlethwaite (The Sins) and Ken Stott (The Vice) also compete.

"The Cops", "Clocking Off", "The Sins" and "Fat Friends" are drawn together in the Best Drama Series category, while the Best Entertainment Programme nominations could uncover a few surprises, with "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" up against "The Weakest Link", "Have I Got News for You" and "So Graham Norton"
