Programme Information

multi-Oscar winning biopic about the life of eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes that provides a fascinating look at one of the most intriguing characters of the 20th century. The son of a Texan inventor, Hughes transformed a small fortune into a massive one, both by a hugely successful career as a movie producer and by becoming a big wheel in the aviation industry. He made another fortune in the defence industry during the Second World War, and carried on to own a vast range of companies from ground-breaking electronics firms to Las Vegas casinos. Notorious for romancing actresses such as Katharine Hepburn, in later years he famously became a recluse.
