Programme Information

This fast-moving action adventure, starring Alex Pettyfer as a teenager turned super-spy, is based on the bestselling book by Anthony Horowitz. Released in 2006, it's punchy, full of stunts and gadgets, and is good, solid family fun.

Alex Rider (Pettyfer) finds his life turned upside down when his guardian and uncle, Ian Rider (Ewan McGregor), is found dead in suspicious circumstances. Alex had thought that Ian was a bank manager, but this was just a cover story... he was actually a super-spy working for MI6 and now they are demanding that Alex takes his place.

SAS training is a gruelling experience for 14-year-old Alex, but he knows that he'll need to be fully prepared if he is to infiltrate the shady organisation run by evil billionaire Darrius Sayle (Mickey Rourke). Armed with his own set of specialist gadgets, Alex sets off to confront Sayle and complete his first mission for Queen and country.

Did you know? There are plans to turn more of the Alex Rider series of books, written by Anthony Horowitz, into films.
