A classic sitcom created by Raymond Allen. It ran for three seasons in total, two in 1973 and the last in 1978. In all 22 episodes the central character Frank Spencer experiences endless misfortune. He is disaster waiting to happen!
The part was originally offered Norman Wisdom. You could almost imagine him as the foolish Frank, but he turned the part down. The next choice was Ronnie Barker, but he too declined. Finally Michael Crawford was offered the part. He had his own ideas about the character, based on a part he had previuosly played in "No Sex Please We're British". Michael Crawford offered a great deal of input to the scripts and Raymond Allen once commented "It was nice of you to use some of my words"!
