This incredible looking movie sees an astronaut stranded on Mars after a manned mission goes wrong.

In the very near future, Earth is rapidly dying. The only chance humanity has for survival is the development of a colony on Mars.

An experienced team of America's top astronauts, each of whom have a different specialised field in which they work, are making the very first manned expedition to the Red Planet.

On this journey the crew must overcome the enormous differences in their personalities, morals and class in order to successfully complete this highly important mission.

However, when they land the crew's equipment suffers extreme damage now their only hope of surviving the hostile surface of Mars is to rely on each other.

All their doubts, fears and questions about God, man's destiny and the nature of the universe become defining elements in their fates.

In this alien environment they must come face to face with their most human selves to be able to survive.
