Pushing Tin (1999)Written by Darcy Frey, Glen CharlesDirected by Mike NewellRunning Time: 125 minutes (approx)Production Year: 1999Rating: 15 CertificateFilmed in ColourNick 'The Zone' Falzone (John Cusack) is an air traffic control freak. He 'pushes tin' at New York's Terminal Radar Approach Control centre, the chaotic air traffic facility which handles flights for three of the busiest airports in the world. Falzone is the best; he can pull the planes in tighter and faster than anyone alive. Until maverick Russell Bell (Billy Bob Thornton) arrives from Albuquerque, when the tension in the building, already simmering, goes up a notch. And with thousands of lives dependent on quick thinking and cool heads, is competitive tension really what these guys need? Pushing Tin is a well-written, thrilling and amusing comedy with two big stars showing off their talents, toe to toe. It also features a terrific supporting cast including Cate Blanchett as Falzone's wife and the upwardly mobile Angelina Jolie as Bell's spouse who also finds herself caught up in the madness. Jolie and Thornton are now married. The director of Pushing Tin is Mike Newell, better known for his smash-hit comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral. Cast
