Fletcher, or "Fletch" (played by Ronnie Barker) is a career criminal who has spent most of his adult life serving time.
His latest sentence of five years is spent in Slade Prison, where he shares a cell with Lennie Godber the late Richard Beckinsale, where he spends most of his time trying to "wind-up" the prison officers.
