Drama series about a group of young barristers in a Leeds defence chambers.
They're clever, good looking, hardworking and without a scruple between them. Who? The people who work at "North Square" and form the centre of this ten-part drama series.
They're not politicians nor are they traders, but barristers, and they're all looked after by the Machiavellian Chief Clerk Peter McLeish (Phil Davies) who establishes relationships with the top criminals in Leeds so he can get the best cases of them. He also has the talent of persuading a client to offer a plea, not because it's in their best interests but because he doesn't want to miss out on a bigger case coming up. He is funny and clever and he always gets his own way. Peter is obsessed by his work and doesn't appear to have a social life. He's struggling to make his new enterprise work and will do anything to make it succeed.
This series shows barristers acting out a myriad of different motives, but rare among them is the desire for justice. Has the experience changed Phil's attitude to the law?
