Originally "John Craven's Newsround", this show was first transmitted in 1972 twice weekly at 5.00pm. In 1979 the show became a popular 5.00pm slot every weekday.
Presented by John Craven until 1989, when he left to become the presenter of the BBC's Country Files.
AfterJohn left the show it's name was changed to just "Newsround."
