Drew Barrymore is on something of a high currently. She's the star, albeit an unlikely one, of hit comedy Charlie's Angels and she's demonstrated a knack for romantic comedies such as The Wedding Singer. Never Been Kissed may not have the roundhouse kicks, but there's plenty of romantic comedy, with Barrymore a charming and amiable student.
She plays Josie Geller, a 25-year-old editor on the Chicago Sun Times. She's the youngest copy editor the paper has ever had, but when the owner of the paper picks her for an undercover report on high schoolers, it's not an assignment to which she can say 'no.'
Back in school, despite her achievements in journalism, Josie is soon back to her old ways. She's labelled 'Josie Grossie'; she hangs out with a group of pretty, empty-headed girls and she falls for one of the school's teachers, the very man whom she has been ordered by the newspaper owner to castigate in her report. Faced with this stack of problems, Josie has the opportunity to bring her extra years of experience to the fore - and relive her years at school with the right result.
