Programme Information

Wes Craven, better known for his horror films, changed direction with this movie based on the true-life story of Roberta Guaspari, a single mother who begins teaching violin lessons at a tough Harlem school. Overcoming obstacles placed in her way by other staff members and the school board, she succeeds in establishing a music programme that culminates in a concert at Carnegie Hall where her once reluctant pupils put on a classical concert.
