This comedy drama series was first aired in 1979 and ran until 1994
Trilby-wearing wheeler-dealer Arthur Daley (George Cole) is a small-time entrepreneurial conman who gets paranoid about being stiched up, or worse, by other crooks in the area so hires Terry McCann (Dennis Waterman) to be his full-time 'Minder'.
Terry McCann is an ex-boxing champ and while he tries his hardest to satisfy his employer's demands, by putting his own life at risk, Arthur is busy exploiting Terry for all he is worth.
When Arthur hires out Terry's services, unbeknown to Terry, Arthur keeps most of Terry's share for himself by telling the ever hard-eworking Terry that they were receiving less money than they actually do. Along with these goings-on Arthur must avoid the unsolicited attentions of local bobby, Detective Sergeant Albert Chisholm 'Charlie' (Patrick Malahide).
In 1991 Waterman left the role of McCann leaving the way clear for Daley's new side-kick, Ray Daley (Gary Webster). Ray, the mineral-water sipping nephew of Arthur.
