Programme Information
Men In Black stars the wonderful Tommy Lee Jones (Batman Forever, Double Jeopardy) and Will Smith (Independence Day, Enemy of the State) as Agents Kay and James, respectively. The agents work for a highly funded, yet unofficial government agency, whose job it is to: "Keeping the earth safe from the scum of the universe."
Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld (both Adam's Family films and Get Shorty) the film produces something never done before, mixing sci-fi and comedy successfully! The film follows members of a top-secret organisation, specifically established to monitor, and police alien activity on earth. The film includes sophisticated as well as sophomoric humour, and with Will Smith starring (The Fresh Prince of Bel-air) it's no wonder!
The two chosen ones have their work cut out for them as a deadly plot emerges, a terrorist from an intergalactic planet arrives on earth ready to assassinate the two ambassadors from the opposing galaxy and take over the world. In a mission to stop the two worlds from colliding, the MiB must locate the terrorist and stop him from his deadly mission.
The special effects and humour in the film are great, especially the car birthing scene! The acting is also good, but with such extravagant and believable sets it would not be hard to slip into the roles.
