Sitcom about apparently perfect soul mates, whose lives parallel each other but don't intersect - Alice (Tamsin Greig), an account manager in a London store, and Gil (Michael Landes), an American comedy writer in search of artistic integrity and a lasting relationship.

In the second series it becomes plain that Alice and Gil are destined never to meet. Meanwhile at work, Alice's world often revolves around the amorous antics of her colleagues Cleo (Sheridan Smith) and Milly (Montserrat Lombard). She also establishes an on-off relationship with Douglas (Mark Heap), a scriptwriter who worked with Gil.
