Programme Information

A fascinating documentary following the history of blues music up to the present day. Based on a one-off concert staged at the Radio City Music Hall in New York in 2003, it's jam-packed with legendary blues performers - and a few of today's stars too. The cast list reads like a blues' Hall of Fame: B.B. King, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Dr. John and Buddy Guy to name but four. They perform alongside artists who drew their inspiration from the blues, like Gregg Allman (of the Allman Brothers), The Band's Levon Helm, Credence Clearwater Revival's John Fogerty, Aerosmith and relative newcomer Macy Gray. Add the archive film footage being projected onto the venue's walls by its Jumbo Trons, and the inevitable and essential backstage interviews and insights, and you get a real treat for anyone who likes blues music, starring some of its best exponents.
