The excitement, terror and unpredictability of a life fighting fire is put under the spotlight in this gripping film. Joaquin Phoenix plays a fearless fire fighter who is trapped inside a burning 20-storey building. As his colleagues, including his mentor Chief Kennedy, fight to free him, he looks back over 20 years in the service.

Viewers see his early days as a rookie, and the help the Chief gave him as he learned his skills. The film charts the daring rescues and brave battles against fires during the following years, as he becomes a veteran who'll stop at nothing to save people's lives.
