Michael Cuesta's film stars Paul Franklin Dano as a teenager whose father has taken up with a bimbo with unseemly haste following his wife's death, who's unsure of his sexuality and who skips school and hangs around with the wrong crowd. Having broken into the house of Brian Cox, Cox tracks him down and blackmails him into friendship and when his father is arrested, Dano moves in with him, expecting to pay his rent with sexual favours but Cox refuses to respond, having another agenda in this uneasy but always gripping film.
