Spike Lee's drama stars Wesley Snipes and Annabella Sciorra as two work colleagues who start a passionate affair. She is engaged to John Turturro, he is married to Lonette McKee but when their affair becomes known to their families, it is as much their racial differences that cause trouble as the affair itself. Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee play Snipes' loving, God-fearing parents, with Samuel L Jackson as his crack-addicted brother, while Sciorra's family is headed by the tyrannical Anthony Quinn.
