Dr. Miles J. Bennell (Kevin McCarthy) returns to his small town practice to find several of his patients suffering from the paranoid delusion that all their friends and relatives are alien impostors.
Initially Binnell is highly sceptical over these ramblings, especially when the alleged doppelgangers are able to answer detailed questions about their victim's life. However Binnell is eventually persuaded that something very odd has happened to his fellow townsfolk, and wants to find out exactly what it is.
This film was successfully remade in 1978 where the great Donald Sutherland took on the role of Dr. Binnell.
