This Gothic horror story is set in modern-day San Francisco and tells the story of a 200-year-old vampire, who decides to tell his life story to an increasingly beguiled journalist.
In 1971, a New Orleans plantation owner, called Louis de Pointe du Lac (Brad Pitt), has lost the will to live after his wife was killed a year ago.
However a gentleman, named Lestat de Lioncourt (Tom Cruise), takes pity on Louis and offers him a chance to start enjoying and appreciating life again - however he is a vampire and Louis' way out would be to become a creature of the night.
Louis accepts this offer of escape and Lestat proceeds to drain Louis' mortal blood and replaces it with that of his own, thus turning Louis into a vampire.
Now Louis' education begins as he tries to learn the ways of the vampire from his tutor and mentor, Lestat. owever it isn't long before Louis realises he doesn't like being a vampire and refuses to kill humans for his thirst.
Louis and Lestat soon turn a young girl, Claudia (Kirsten Dunst), into a night creature too - however Louis makes it his duty to try and protect her from becoming a fully fledged vampire (something that happens after their first 'feed') and together the three live on through the centuries. Until now..
Now in modern day San Francisco Louis, now over two hundred years old, relates this life story of love, betrayal, loneliness and hunger to a young increasingly beguiled journalist, Daniel Malloy (Christian Slater). The scoop of the century.. or is it?!
