In the Films to See Before You Die strand, Paul Kaye introduces Lindsay Anderson's coruscating classic critique of British society, set in a private school where rebellious pupils led by Mick Travis take revenge against the petty-minded teachers and prefects. A mixture of satire and fantasy, it is one of the outstanding films of the decade that, as well as massively influencing British film-making, provided a cinematic vision for the disaffected youth of the times.
