Hollyoaks takes a relevent look at young people's life in the late 90's and new century through the eyes of a group of young people living in the same community.
Set in and around Chester, Hollyoaks is a ficticious suburb.
Centred around two groups of main characters and their families the programme depicts all the usual concerns of young people today and many others. Hollyoaks has pushed the limits out on usual soap storylines, covering subjects such as Teenage Pregnancy, Sexual Abuse, Drug Abuse and even Male Rape in a recent special late night episode which recieved wide acclaim from critics and alike.
Hollyoaks is devised and produced by Phil Redmond who quotes " Hollyoaks is about the two big issues in life - Who Am I? and Where Am I Going? Incorporating going out, listening to music, getting on and/or off with the opposite sex and enjoying yourself."
