Two neighbours who have been bitter rivals since a youthful feud over a woman renew their animosity when an attractive widow moves in across the street. Ariel's arrival is a welcome diversion for enemies Max and John, and when they both attempt to woo her, it is John who wins her affections. But he does not want to make a commitment, and Ariel wonders if she should have chosen Max.
