Programme Information

This is the true life, and violent, story of Irish-Italian American, Henry Hill (Ray Liotti) and how he lives day-to-day life as a member of the Mafia.

The movie also views the lives of two more pivotal, and unstable, characters from 60's, 70's New York: Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci) and Jimmy Conway (Robert De Niro).

Henry was an Irish-Italian American who started off his "career" as a small time gangster in a neighbourhood full of the roughest and ugliest. But soon transcends this when he takes part in a robbery with two other gangster, Jimmy and Tommy.

However when the latter two kill off everyone else that was involved in this particular robbery, the three begin to climb the hierarchical ladder of the Mob which starts as petty crime but ends in violent homicides and drugs.

Tommy is a pure bred Italian gangster, who turns out to be Henry's best friend while Jimmy is the man who puts the two of them together, and runs some of the biggest hijacks and burglaries the town has ever seen.

By the end, the three end up in a right mess, and must do anything they can to save each other's back.
