Randall "Memphis" Raines (Nicolas Cage) was one of the biggest car theives of his time, in fact when he decided to retire, car theft in his vicinity (Long Beach) went down by a massive 47%.
Out of the action for a while now, Memphis gets dragged back into the seedy world thanks to his brother, Kip (Giovanni Ribisi).
Kip, you see, was supposed to carry out a heist on 50 cars for a stolen-car broker called Raymond Calitri (Christopher Eccleston), but when Kip messes up Memphis gets dragged in to finish the job, or lose his brother.
He must now steasl 50 exotic cars and have them on a container ship by 8am Friday morning, however its Monday already.
With Calitri threatening to kill him and Kip, and the police breathing down his neck, Memphis reforms his old crew and attempts to pull off the logistically impossible.
