Programme Information

Screen version of the novel by Dan Wakefield about two young army veterans who become unlikely friends. Recently discharged and returning home, school sports hero Gunner Casselman (Ben Affleck) meets and becomes friends with an old school acquaintance, the nerdy Sonny Burns (Jeremy Davies). The pair share their woes and talk about life, literature and girls and together they come to realise that they have to escape the claustrophobic life in Indianapolis and head off to the gleaming towers of Manhattan.
