"Am I so desperate for romance that I would pick at my own leftovers?" says Joan (Tracee Ellis Ross), talking directly to the camera and portraying the whitest black girl on TV since the Cosby daughters danced across the screen in designer sweaters.
Joan is an attorney who just made junior partner. But is she happy? Nahhh. "I'm staring at 30!" She swaps insults with her three friends and gets her kicks taunting ex-lovers: "I remind him that all of this booty could have been his!"
Her assistant, Maya (Golden Brooks) classes herself as "Miss Ghetto Superstar," whose slang is ridiculed by the others.
Toni (Jill Jones) is a real estate tigress who wears jungle prints. And Lynn (Persia White), their hazy permanent-student pal.
Together they boldly go where all single women on TV have gone before - on very bad dates--working their way through preachers, stock boys and toe-suckers.
I recently heard that girlfriends will be cancelled. WHY? This is one of my favorite shows. I watch every episode and I love the new ones except that Jill Jones(Toni) is not on. Why did she leave the show? Is she going to be returning if the show stays on the air? I think the show should continue to air because I know alot of people that watch and are really into this top rated show.

I just heard Girlfriends is being cancelled. Why? I finally have something on tv that I can relate to. It incomposses many aspects of my girlfriends and I. It is one of the better sitcoms on t.v. There are very few sitcoms with all black cast in which we are educated, witty, productive, to say the least and now they want to take it away from us. I will protest the station if Girlfriends is not renewed.
