It's all the evidence that's left of a murder: the detailed police file, the deadly bullet, and the grisly photos of the crime scene. There's just one thing wrong with these photos: the victim is still alive. For mild-mannered college professor, J T Newmeyer (Hutton), today should be a time for celebration - it's the birthday of his beautiful daughter Jesse. Today is also a cause for mourning, as it's the anniversary of his beloved wife's death. And, for JT, today is cause for alarm, too. A mysterious package has arrived at his door containing evidence of his own murder. Although the police file - dating his death at five days from now - looks authentic, JT convinces himself that it's some silly prank concocted by a brilliant but obsessed student. But as the day progresses and events unveil the prophecy of his murder seems all too real. JT has just five days to launch a desperate attempt to solve the mystery.
