Programme Information

Passionate drama about a wealthy 19th-century aristocrat who pays an educated but poor woman to bear his child when his wife is unable to have children following an accident. Years later his sister-in-law - ignorant of the past - employs the woman as a governess. Not only is she now governess to her own daughter, but she finds herself fighting her attraction to the employer with whom she had formerly been so intimate.
