Programme Information

Ed Pekurny (Matthew McConaughey) leads a pretty average life, working in his local video store, until Cynthia Topping (Ellen DeGeneres), a TV producer, changes his world forever.

She wants to film a normal person's life 24 hours a day, this she hopes will help save the TV station, by increasing their ratings.

The film begins by setting Ed up as your normal, relaxed guy rolling through life, with no real ambition. His brother on the other hand has enough for both of them and when he hears about the show he is dying for an audition, but by pure incident Ed ends up with an audition and through his relaxed, calm character ends up being the star of the show.

Things don't run that smoothly though when no ones interested, he is so normal at first nothing much happens, until the inevitable, a romantic liaison with his brother's girl friend. His brother Ray (Woody Harrelson) is not a very nice character anyway and Ed's fans still love him.

Ray still tries to destroy Ed by publishing a book about him, which is far from complimentary. All this action gets the ratings so high that when Ed wants out, as he finds it hard having no privacy, the producers say no.

With other parts of the plot making the story even more interesting the only way Ed can get out is to set up a plan and with some help he manages to find something out about a producer and says unless he is "released" he with tell the horrifically embarrassing secret live on air.

With that his freedom is granted, and his life is his own once more! The film has very interesting twists and was a big all round success!
