Programme Information

Funded by the city fat cat Russell Franklin (Samuel L. Jackson), Dr. Susan McAlester (Saffron Burrows) and Jim Whitlock (Stellan Skarsgård) are scientist's whose experiments are on the verge of creating medical history, by finding a cure for the dreadful brain wasting disease, Alzheimer's.

Using mako sharks, one of nature's fastest and most perfect intelligent killing machines, Dr. McAlester hopes to find the key to the regeneration of human brain tissue. But to reach her goal, she has violated ethical codes by genetically re-engineering the DNA of the sharks, in order to maximize, and utilize their cancer fighting enzymes.

However, as a result of her unethical studies she has made them smarter, made them faster and turned them from dangerous predators into predatory monsters, putting the safety of her team in jeopardy and the eco-system facing complete annihilation should the sharks ever leave the floating lab. Aquatica.

The team soon discover that the sharks have started a frenzied attack on them. The team are now in a deadly race against time to escape and led by shark wrangler, Carter Blake (Thomas Jane) and Preacher (Cool J, LL) they try to reach the surface.

Now, having caused irreparable damage to the Aquatica, and a tropical storm slowly sinking the laboratory structure, the caged sharks are free and they are reminding us of why we shouldn't mess with Mother Nature.
