The intriguing life story of legendary writer/composer Cole Porter is told here in the form of a musical extravaganza chronicling episodes in his life, as the ageing genius watches.

As Cole Porter's tale unfolds, accompanied by many of his most memorable songs, the viewer learns of his complex relationships, his long-time partnership with wife Linda, and his closet homosexuality. A fascinating story that sheds light on the maestro's life, with an excellent performance from Kevin Kline as the man himself. But inevitably it's the songs that steal the show - the eponymous De-Lovely and Begin the Beguine, to name but two. Kline sings a number of them, but many more are sung by some of today's top talents, including Robbie Williams, Natalie Cole, Elvis Costello and Sheryl Crow.
