Unfortunately Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon isn't on the air any time soon.
Programme Information
Also known as its Chinese name; Wu hu zang long, this truly magnificent martial arts film's story tells of the disappearence of a magical jade sword which sparks a breathtaking quest for the missing treasure with some of the most brilliant fight scenes ever immortalized on celluloid.
Li (Chow Yun-Fat) is embittered by the loss of his jade sword, and his unrequited pursuit of Yu (Michelle Yeoh) is further complicated by the mysterious intrusion of an assassin.
The identity of the assassin is gradually unveiled as another poignant tale of love begins to unravel with that of Li and Yu against the backdrop of Western China's magnificent landscape.
This subtitled film is a fabulous and epic mix of romance and martial arts from the increasingly eclectic Taiwanese director, Ang Lee.
Lee mixes quiet romantic scenes (complete with acute social criticism of a woman's place in a male dominated world) with spectacular fight sequences that put The Matrix to shame.
Really try and go and see this, you shouldn't be disappointed!
