When the cynical Rick happens to come into possession of 2 letters of transit. Now the Nazi Major Heinrich Strassor (Conrad Veidt) has arrived in Casablanca to find the letters and is helped along by the obsequious local policeman, Captain Louis Renault (Claude Rains).
Renault's desire to please the Nazi Major leads him into detaining the Czech underground leader, Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid). However with the arrival of Laszlo comes the arrival of a shock to Rick.. his long lost love, Ilsa Lund Laszlo (Ingrid Bergman) has arrived with him and she is now an active member iof the resistence.
Rick is extremely bitter towards Ilsa after she ran out on him in Paris. However this changes when he learns the reason as to why she had to leave when she did and the two plan to run off together again using the letters of transit as their ticket out of the country.
But will their plan succeed? You'll have to watch and see!
