This quirky 2005 comic drama, directed by Jim Jarmusch, features an inspired, laid-back performance by Bill Murray (pictured). He plays Don Johnston, an ageing single man who receives an anonymous letter claiming that he has a 19-year-old son, from a past relationship, who is searching for him.

As his current girlfriend rejects him, Don, encouraged by an inquisitive neighbour (Jeffrey Wright), sets out on a quest to unearth the truth behind the letter. It's a lengthy road trip in which he meets many of his previous lovers - played by Sharon Stone, Jessica Lange, Tilda Swinton and Frances Conroy. Don's journey forces him to come to terms with the way he has treated women over the years.
