This 1992 sensitively, restrained movie film covers the true life story of the 1972 Uruguayan Rugby Team (and partners) who, after their plane crashes into an inaccessable mountain top are forced to make the ultimate decision - eat their dead or die!
Most of the crew and some of passengers die instantly in the crash, but some of the young men, including Nando Parrado (Ethan Hawke), Antonio Balbi (Vincent Spano) and Roberto Canessa (Josh Hamilton), survive.
When the rescue effort is called off, the survivors are forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive - and eat the corpses of their former friends and try to survive until they are rescued.
