Programme Information

This is a Ridley Scott film, released on the 500th anniversary of the discovery of the Americas.

The film follows the journeys made by history's greatest explorer, Christopher Columbus (Gerard Depardieu).

This wonderful film charts Columbus' early days trying desperately to persuade Queen Isabel (Sigourney Weaver) to fund his explorations. To the discoveries themselves, the effect on the native Indians, the growing colonisation and his final death on the continent he discovered.
