UK Drama is the channel dedicated to providing consistently excellent drama, from The Way We Live Now and Brideshead Revisited through to Miss Marple and Clocking Off. UK Drama has unique access to the best of British television drama, guaranteeing viewers compelling engaging and emotionally absorbing journeys.
February 2003 sees the UKTV premiere of Tipping the Velvet, a colourful lesbian love story set in the late nineteenth century. As she grows into womanhood, Nan Astley realises that she is attracted to her own sex and her adventurous journey of discovery begins. Tipping the Velvet is on Tuesdays at 9pm from late February.
The box-office hit Evita premieres on UK Drama on Saturday 1st March at 9pm. Starring Madonna as Eva Peron; the wife of former dictator, Juan Peron, the film tells the story of Eva’s phenomenal rise to power and wealth, on her way to becoming the national icon that was Evita.
Starring Pauline Quirke, Being April comes to UK Drama on Friday nights from the end of January. April is a single mother with three children from different fathers; Richard her estranged husband who’s still in love with her; gay Eddie, a brief fling from the past; and Sunil, who was about to be married when he met April – but forgot to mention it!
