BBC2 Scotland transmits 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It transmits much the same programmes as all the other BBC2 channels but with regional variations
BBC Scotland's primary purpose remains the same as any of its BBC counterparts: to provide the distinctive, diverse and high-quality programmes which have given the BBC its enviable international reputation for decades. It also makes television and radio programmes for Scotland as well as contributing to the network output on BBC ONE, BBC TWO and BBC CHOICE.
Education is an area covered extensively by BBC Scotland, producing programmes to resource the Scottish curriculum. The needs of children from the ages of 5 - 18 are covered in programmes which reflect the variety of Scottish life and culture. In addition, during Autumn 2000, online programmes will be available as an additional resource. Features programmes in BBC Scotland cover a wide range from daily entertainment to documentaries. Also television viewers can expect a wide variety of arts programmes such as Film 99, Hollywood Greats, Rough Cut, Omnibus, Bookmark and Close Up. BBC Scotland also provide quality documentary programmes such as Ex-S, an 18-part series which is shown only in Scotland, and one-off documentary specials.
As well as their commitment to broadcast 7 days week over the air, BBC Scotland is also supported by their own Online Web Site that continues to inform, educate and entertain. This web site contains information on: Sport, Education, Drama, Radio, etc... It also includes Competitions, Talk Back oppotunities, Games, and much more. This web site also offers you either English or Gaelic options.
